Mary V. Kettelhut
June 18, 1915 - March 23, 2010

AGEHR past president and Honorary Life member Mary Virginia Kettelhut, Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away the evening of March 23, 2010.

Mary was born in Pasadena, California, on June 18, 1915 to Torston A. and Anna M. (Felker) Magnuson. She is survived by her husband, Harry Kettelhut; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney D. and Sharon Kettelhut; and daughter, Peggy Jensen; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert T. Magnuson; son-in-law, Alfred D. Jensen; and grandson, Robert E. Jensen.

Beginning a long association with handbells and the AGEHR in 1962, Mary Kettelhut served as the handbell director for the Bennett (Nebraska) Community Church for 36 years, bringing youth choirs to area and national events for 33 years.

Among her other talents, Mary was one of the early solo handbell ringers, performing at many of the area and national events. She was the last of the elected national registrars of AGEHR, serving from 1975 until 1981, and was elected to the national presidential cycle, serving as president from 1983 to 1985.

Mary was a retired teacher and Navy veteran. Besides her involvement with AGEHR, she was active in the church's Lamplighters Circle and was a member of the Bennet Legion. She was also active in her music sorority and played Cello with the Lincoln Civic Orchestra.
